Dr Tom Young elected as C44 chair

We are excited to announce the election of Dr Tom Young as the new Chair of Channel 44. Tom brings extensive experience as an established filmmaker and the founder of Frankie Films, a leading video production company based at the Tonsley Innovation District. The company creates high-end promotional videos, television commercials, documentaries, and animations.

Tom is also Senior Lecturer and the Discipline Lead in Screen, Film and TV at Flinders University. Tom teaches students to make films: short documentaries, narrative drama, client videos, television, and feature films.

At the national level Tom is an elected Executive Member and Treasurer of the Australian Screen Production Education & Research Association (ASPERA). ASPERA is the peak discipline body of Australian tertiary institutions teaching and researching film, video, television, and screen-based production practices.

Tom is also the creator of the widely acclaimed The 100 Day Film Project in which Tom set himself the challenge of creating a feature film in just 100 days with the world premiere on YouTube in November 2023.

Having been a director on the C44 board since 2021, Tom is poised to lead the organisation through this next innovative chapter of national growth for the community tv sector.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Chair, Jo Stewart-Rattray, for her dedication and contributions over the past six years. Jo will formally step down from the board at the end of her tenure in December 2024.
